About the Founder

Leo Silverman is the founder of Video Game Stock Letter (VGSL), an independent research platform dedicated to analyzing the businesses, technology, and innovation driving the global video game industry.

Leo founded VGSL at the age of 15 after combining two lifelong passions: investing and video games. His interest in technology began at an early age, driven by a fascination with how computers, semiconductors, software, and video games are designed, engineered, and brought to market. During the COVID-19 pandemic, while building his first gaming computer, he began researching the companies behind the hardware he was using and asked a simple question: If I believe in these technologies, why not become an investor in the companies creating them?

Growing up, Leo was introduced to investing through his father, who has spent much of his career researching biotechnology companies and investing within the life sciences sector. While biotechnology was his father's specialty, Leo's interests naturally gravitated toward gaming, consumer technology, and the businesses shaping the future of interactive entertainment. What began as researching technology companies soon evolved into a passion for financial analysis, equity research, and understanding what separates great businesses from great investments.

Leo completed an internship with LifeSci Capital, a biotechnology-focused investment firm, where he worked alongside the analytics team researching life sciences companies and investment opportunities. In just a few weeks, he gained practical experience that reinforced the value of disciplined research, critical thinking, and data-driven decision-making. More importantly, he discovered how passionate teams and collaborative environments can make even the most challenging work both rewarding and enjoyable. Leo also interned at Sunstar Vending, where he gained firsthand exposure to the engineering, manufacturing, and operational side of the amusement and arcade industry. Working alongside company president David Leichus, he learned how arcade machines are designed, programmed, manufactured, and deployed across the country.

Whether researching semiconductor companies, game publishers, hardware manufacturers, or emerging technologies, Leo approaches every investment with the same curiosity that inspired him to build his first computer. Through Video Game Stock Letter, his goal is to bridge the gap between investing and gaming by providing thoughtful, research-driven analysis for investors who share a passion for the industry.
